What is a Service?

A Service is what customers book — a groom or an extra, scoped to a pet type, priced by breed or weight class.

A Service is something a customer can book for their pet — a full groom, a nail trim, a bath, or any other treatment your parlour offers. Nothing can be booked until at least one service exists, since every booking order pairs a pet with a service.

Service Type: Groom or Extra#

Every service is one of two types:

TypeWhat it's for
GroomThe main service on a booking order — for example, a Full Groom or a Bath.
ExtraAn add-on alongside a groom — for example, a nail trim or teeth cleaning.

A booking order pairs one groom service with a pet, and can add any number of extra services on top.

Pet Type#

Each service is scoped to a pet type (dog or cat) — only services matching a pet's type are offered when booking that pet, so your team never accidentally books a dog-only service for a cat.

Pricing#

Services can be priced by breed or by weight class, so the same service (say, a Full Groom) can charge different amounts depending on the pet's size or breed — larger or higher-maintenance breeds typically cost more to groom.

Booking Types#

A service can support one-time bookings, recurring bookings, or both. Leave both enabled to make the service available for either kind of booking, or restrict it if a service should only ever be booked one way (for example, a service meant only for recurring subscription plans).

Team Inheritance#

If your business uses multiple teams, a team can either define its own services or inherit its services from your organisation's profile. Check which mode a team is in before assuming a service is missing — switch to the Profile team to add or edit services shared across all teams.
