What is a Schedule?
Schedules define when your business takes bookings — day schedules and shifts for a normal week, plus date-specific overrides for holidays and exceptions.
A Schedule defines when your business is available to take bookings. There are two kinds, working together:
| Kind | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Day Schedules | Your normal weekly pattern — which days you're open, and the shifts worked on each. |
| Date Schedules | One-off overrides for a specific calendar date — for example, closing for a public holiday, or opening extra hours for a busy weekend. |
Day Schedules and Shifts#
A Day Schedule applies to a specific day of the week (Monday through Sunday). Each day schedule holds one or more shifts — a start and end time during which bookings can be taken that day. Multiple shifts let you model a split day, for example a morning shift and a separate afternoon shift with a break in between.
A day schedule also sets a maximum number of pets that can be booked, capping how much your team takes on in a day.
Date-Specific Overrides#
Date Schedules override the normal day-schedule pattern for one specific date — useful for public holidays, planned closures, or special extended hours. Each date override includes a short description (for example, "Closed for public holiday") so your team understands why that date looks different.
Team Inheritance#
If your business uses multiple teams, a team can either define its own schedules or inherit its schedules from your organisation's profile. If a team's schedule looks empty or wrong, check whether it inherits from the Profile team before assuming something is missing — switch to the Profile team to add or edit shared schedules.
