Create a Voucher
Create a discount voucher step by step — code, discount type, duration, plan restrictions, availability, usage limits, and descriptions.
This guide walks through every section of the voucher create form. Open Vouchers in the navigation and select Create.
Voucher Code#
What code should your customers enter to redeem the voucher?
Enter the Code — the identifier staff select when redeeming, and the reference that appears in usage reporting. Keep it short, memorable, and unambiguous (for example WINTER20 or LOYALTY100).
The voucher's code can never be changed once set. Everything else about the voucher can be edited later; the code cannot.
Discount Type#
What type of discount would you like to create?
Choose with the Use percentage-based voucher? toggle:
- Percentage — enter a percentage from 0 to 100. The discount scales with the charge.
- Amount — enter a fixed value in the voucher's currency (for example R100). The same amount comes off regardless of the charge size.
Duration#
Once redeemed on a customer's account, what is the duration of the discount?
| Option | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Single use | Applies to the first invoice only. |
| Forever | Applies to all invoices on the customer's account until the voucher is deactivated or reaches its usage limit. |
| Limited time | Applies to invoices for the duration you set with the Temporal amount and Temporal unit fields — days, weeks, months, or years. |
For Limited time, the clock starts when the voucher is redeemed on the account — a "3 months" voucher redeemed in June stops discounting in September.
Item Sales Restriction#
Do you want this voucher to be limited to the sale of items from your catalog?
- No, apply voucher based on charge type only — the voucher discounts qualifying charges regardless of catalogue items.
- Yes, apply voucher to item sales only — the voucher only discounts sales of catalogue items.
Eligible Plans#
Which plans are eligible for the discount?
- All plans — the discount also applies to any future plans you add.
- Specific plans — the discount only applies to the plans you select from the list.
Restricting a voucher to specific plans is the safest way to run a promotion on one service — a discount on your mobile grooming plan can't accidentally erode revenue on your premium packages.
Availability#
Two switches control whether the voucher can be redeemed:
- Has expiry date? — when on, set the Expiration date. After this date the voucher can no longer be redeemed.
- Enabled? — the master switch. Disable it at any time to stop new redemptions immediately.
Usage Limits#
Each limit is optional — leave it off for unlimited use:
| Field | What it caps |
|---|---|
| Usage limit | The total number of times this voucher can be used, across everyone. |
| Usage by customer limit | The total number of times a single customer can use it. |
| Usage by account limit | The total number of times a single account can use it. |
Descriptions#
- Hosted page description — shows when a customer redeems the voucher on your Hosted Payment Pages, or on your own checkout page if you choose to display it.
- Invoice description — the discount line as it appears on the invoice (up to 255 characters). Make it customer-friendly: "Winter special — 20% off grooming" reads better than the bare code.
Save#
Submit the form and the voucher is ready to redeem on customer accounts. You can edit, duplicate, or deactivate it at any point.
